Editorial Policy & Sources
VIP Claims Ltd publishes independent guides to making a car insurance claim with UK insurers. This page explains how those guides are researched, what we will and will not publish, and how you can ask us to correct something.
How we research insurer information
Claim contact numbers, opening hours, online claim routes, repair-network arrangements and complaints procedures are taken from the insurer's own website, help centre, policy booklets and other first-party documents. We summarise those details in our own words rather than reproducing insurer copy.
Every insurer guide records the pages we used and the date each one was checked. Those references are published in the "Sources" section at the foot of the guide.
Which sources we accept
- The insurer's own website, claims pages and help centre.
- Policy wordings, insurance product information documents and claims booklets.
- Official regulatory and public-body sources, such as the Financial Ombudsman Service, the FCA register, the DVLA and the Motor Insurers' Bureau.
We do not use competing claims-management sites, price-comparison pages, forums or social media as a source of fact. Where a detail cannot be confirmed from a first-party source, we leave it out and say that it depends on the policy.
What we will not publish
- Telephone numbers, opening hours or claim links that we cannot verify on the insurer's own site.
- Invented reviews, case studies, ratings or statistics.
- Guarantees about excess refunds, no-claims discounts, liability decisions or replacement vehicles.
- Criticism of an insurer that we cannot evidence.
- Any suggestion that VIP Claims is affiliated with, appointed by or endorsed by an insurer.
How often we review
Insurer contact details and claim processes change. Each guide is re-checked against its first-party sources on a rolling basis, and the date of the most recent check is displayed on the page. Because details can change between reviews, we always ask you to confirm contact details in your own policy documents before you call.
Editorial independence
VIP Claims Ltd is an independent UK accident management company. We earn money by managing claims for drivers who are eligible for our service, not from insurers. No insurer pays for coverage, placement or favourable wording in our guides, and the official contact information for each insurer is published in full — including where going direct to your insurer is the simpler route for you.
Our services are subject to eligibility and the circumstances of the accident, and are never guaranteed. You may still be required to notify your own insurer of an accident even if you do not claim on your own policy.
Corrections and contact
If something on one of our guides is out of date or wrong, please tell us and we will check it against the insurer's official sources and update or remove it.
Call VIP Claims on 0800 061 4695 or use our contact form and mention the page you are referring to.
